Jay Dill of McFadden Sales and Gary Lee of Aviom presented an informative program regarding the Aviom Personal Monitor System as well as information regarding the Aviom Pro 64 Audio Networking and Digital Snake product line.

Aviom has been a leader in the development of network audio distribution and their personal monitor mixing systems have been used by numerous touring events and other large scale productions. This should be an interesting and informative program.

Jay demonstrated the Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system. This is Shure’s premier wireless technology and was just released at the October AES convention in New York. Afterword, Gerry Inks led the group on a tour of the WISH-TV news room, studios and LIN Television Master control.

Dawn is a statelicensed and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certified audiologist specializing in hearing conservation. With a Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University and an Audiology from Northeastern University in Boston -her skills have given her a strong foundation in audiology expertise while promoting the importance of hearing healthcare.

Dawn began her presentation with explaining hearing physiology. She highlighted areas affected by natural processes like disease and age and those affected by exposure to environmental conditions like loud music and noise. Dawn explained how hearing is tested and charted by audiologists. Those in the audience with acousitical backgrounds paid particular attention to the fact that audiologists and acoustical engineers chart sound pressure changes in different ways. Dawn concluded her talk by presenting hearing protection solutions ranging from custom ear devices to off-the-shelf devices.

Topic: Discussion of the Electro-Voice Line Array Roadshow

Why not come to the afternoon session of the Electro-Voice traveling Line Array Roadshow and then join your colleagues for a short meeting of the Central Indiana Section of the AES afterward. We expect the meeting to start around 3:30 to 4:00 PM. It will be held in the theater while the friendly folks from Electro-Voice are striking their demo equipment. I suspect it will be a very interesting demonstration that should spark some good discussion among our members. We hope to see you at the meeting to help us make plans for the future of our organization.

The section had a tour of the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The tour included the first floor meeting rooms, second floor ballroom and the beautiful auditorium with its new Martin sound system. The upcoming Election of Officers was discussed and will take place during the June meeting.
