The Central Indiana Section of the Audio Engineering Society is pleased to be hosting its fourth annual Central Indiana Audio Student Workshop – Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10 AM to 6 PM on the campus of Ball State University, Muncie, IN. The entire workshop will take place within the Sursa Hall and Music Instruction Building complex at 1809 West Riverside Avenue, Muncie, IN 47303
The workshop aims to provide audio students of all ages and working professionals an opportunity to meet, hang out, learn and improve their skills. We’ll be hosting an array of interactive demonstrations, informative lectures, and panel discussions that will give students a glimpse into the workings of the regional, national, and international aspects of the audio industry. This year, special attention will be paid to career opportunities and the essential skills that audio students and working professionals alike must cultivate to be successful in the 21st century.
We hope you will attend the Workshop and will spread the word (here’s a poster) to everyone you know in the audio community, be they students, educators, industry professionals, or those with a general curiosity about the constantly evolving audio industry. Keynote Presentation – Edward J. Nixon (sponsored by Prism Sound)
We are excited to announce that Prism Sound is bringing Edward J. Nixon to keynote the 2015 Central Indiana Audio Student Workshop. As a multiple Grammy nominee, mix engineer, producer, motivational speaker and chief engineer of the acclaimed Grammy Award winning collective The J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, Edward J. Nixon has worked with superstars such as Sir. Paul McCartney, Nas, Anthony Hamilton, Estelle, Drake, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Future and Hudson Mohawke.
Edward will discuss how the skills he honed as a student and on the job have facilitated his career thus far. Building upon the technical, creative, and communication competencies needed to be successful as an audio engineer, Edward will provide insight into how he manages himself as a freelance entrepreneur/small business, his mindset, and personal processes.
Attendees will be able to interact with Edward throughout the day in MMP Studio 11, so be sure to bring your own mixes for critique and any questions that you might have.
For those about to enter the work force or considering a change, regional employers Sweetwater, Klipsch Audio, Auralex Acoustics, Interlochen Center for the Arts will be onsite all day to discuss career opportunities one-on-one or in small groups.
Regional bands Dream Chief, Tonos Triad, and Flight of the Fallen will be providing live in-studio and on-stage performances throughout the day. For those staying in Muncie Saturday night, local all ages venue BE HERE NOW! is within walking distance of the workshop and will be granting free admission to the indoor/outdoor concert stages for any attendees who present their official CIASW badges.
