Studio Hang at Static Shack

Join the Indiana Section of the Audio Engineering Society and producer Alan Johnson at Static Shack Studios to catch up, network, and see this landmark of the Indianapolis recording scene. The facility is built around a Russ Berger-designed LEDE control room, with more than 875 sq. ft. of primary recording space and three attached isolation booths. Come ready to talk shop, check out the studio, see old friends, and make some new ones!

Static Shack is located at 5763 Park Plaza Court (46220), off of 71st St and Binford Blvd. Parking is available in front of the studio. Light refreshments will be provided by the Indiana Section.

System Upgrades at the Palladium

Join the technical staff of The Center for the Performing Arts, Force.Tech, and Mid-America Sound to get a behind-the-scenes look at recent upgrades to the audio system at the Palladium.  The new PA system from L-Acoustics, including K3, A10i, the new LA7.16i amplified controller and more.  Presenters will discuss the system’s design, including LiDAR scanning and room modeling, system installation and tuning, as well as the end user perspective.

Please check-in for this event at the Palladium Security Door near the loading dock on the Northwest corner of building. Doors will open at 5:30 for the 6pm event.

The nearest garage is at the Tarkington and Studio Theater building, just south of the Palladium off 3rd Avenue; follow the signs to the Palladium entrances. Please do not park on the loading dock.

Inside the Mark Cuban Center for Sports Media & Technology at IU-Bloomington

Join members of the Indiana University Radio-TV Services engineering team on a tour of the broadcast and event production spaces at the Mark Cuban Center for Sports Media and Technology, located within Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on the IU-Bloomington campus.  The tour will cover how IU Radio-TV supports event productions such as large-scale sporting event video board shows (including a look inside Assembly Hall, one of NCAA Basketball’s most broadcast-from arenas), streaming of university events, as well as student-led streaming broadcasts of Big Ten Network (BTN) sporting events, with special attention on audio systems, intercoms, and our use of AoIP workflows.

416 Wabash Studio Tour

Christopher Wodock and Mitch Lohman guide us through 416 Wabash, a unique studio where a 7,000 sq. ft. event space doubles as a live room for the adjoined traditional recording suite.  This large expanse provides hard surfaces, varying angles, multiple floors, and 25′ ceilings to allow for near infinite acoustic possibilities. The control room and iso booth, both designed by Haverstick Designs, offer additional recording options.  The tour will cover the space’s design and build, as well as the business model behind the successful dual-purpose facility.
